As a celebration of our alumni, each month we will highlight a new book written by one of Oxford's
North American-based alumni.
Our October 2020 book is "Bronte's Mistress" a novel by Finola Austin (Merton, 2009 & Corpus Christi, 2012).
Finola Austin, also known as the Secret Victorianist on her award-winning blog, is an England-born, Northern Ireland-raised, Brooklyn-based historical novelist and lover of the nineteenth century. Her first novel, Bronte's Mistress, based on the true story of the older woman who had an affair with the Bronte sisters' brother, was published by Atria Books in August 2020. She has a BA in Classics & English from Merton College, Oxford, and an MSt in English Literature, 1800-1914 from Corpus Christi College, Oxford. By day, she works in digital advertising as part of Facebook's Creative Shop in New York. Find her online at www.finolaaustin.com.
