As a celebration of our alumni, each month we will highlight a new book written by one of
Oxford's
North American-based alumni.

Our August 2021 book is "For the People: A Citizen's Manifesto to Shaping Our Nation's Future"
by Simon Chadwick (Exeter, 1974).

Simon Chadwick is the author of the best-selling political analysis For the People: A Citizen’s Manifesto to Shaping Our Nation’s Future. Born in South Africa of British missionary parents, he was educated in the UK, gaining an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford. His father, Bishop Graham Chadwick, was a prominent anti-Apartheid activist, allowing Simon to witness up close the evils of an authoritarian, racist regime. Simon also spent a year teaching in Kenya under the authoritarian regime of Jomo Kenyatta. After Oxford, Simon joined the market research division of Unilever and discovered a love of decoding human behavior and decision-making, resulting in a career running research and insights companies in Italy, the UK and the US. He has also been instrumental in furthering the profession, helping found the Insights Association in the US as well as serving as Editor-in-Chief of the global online magazine, Research World, for the last twelve years. He is also Managing Partner of the change management consulting company, Cambiar.
