Akemi Brodsky

As a celebration of our alumni, each month we will highlight a new book written by one of
Oxford's
alumni.

Our March 2024 book is "The Brill Pill"
by Akemi C. Brodsky (St Peter's, 2006).

Akemi grew up in the Bay Area then moved East for her education, first to the East Coast and eventually to the UK. She studied geochemistry at university but started writing when a friend challenged her to write a page a week as a means to navigate a quarter-life crisis. A page (rather slowly) turned into a novel and she has been writing ever since. At Oxford, Akemi studied Geology at St. Peter’s College where she also met her husband and many of her lifelong friends. Akemi now splits her time between the Bay Area and the UK and when she isn’t writing she enjoys over-researching her travel plans, cooking without ever completely following the recipe, hiking but not too strenuously, and many other basic activities including brunch.

You can purchase "The Brill Pill" here.
